Vevo Hookbolt Mulitpoint Gearbox – Lift Lever or Double Spindle
Quick ViewDoor Locks, Multipoint & UPVC, Multipoint GearboxesVevo Hookbolt Mulitpoint Gearbox – Lift Lever or Double Spindle
This gearbox is available with a 35mm backset, features a latch and deadbolt, and is unsprung.
This version is a double spindle (92/62PZ)
Note that this is almost identical in style to the Safeware case and is often confused. The Vevo case height is 228mm while Safeware is 255mm.
Double spindle gearboxes are unsprung and not suitable for use with unsprung handles. Only suits old-style Securistyle multipoints.
The Key & Turn gearboxes look quite different from regular Vevo gearboxes with the corner of the lock removed.
Gearboxes are attached to faceplates with 3 screws and cannot be interchanged with other Vevo locks.
When measuring the backset, allow 2-3mm for the faceplate, so a 28mm backset gearbox will measure 25mm when not fixed to the strip.
Operation: Lift Lever or Double spindle
Latch reversal: Undo the screw in the latch to remove it. Reverse and reinsert then replace the screw.
To lock the door
1. On closing the door, the latch is automatically engaged.
2. Lift the handle up to engage the additional locking points.
3. Throw the deadbolt and lock the system by turning the key (on some brands, the deadbolt will be thrown by lifting the handle).
To unlock the door
1. Unlock the system by turning the key.
2. Push the handle downwards to disengage the locking points.
3. A further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch.
Please note that if the latch is pushed in before the case is fitted to the strip it will stick. Some gearboxes are now coming supplied from the factory with the latch pushed in and retained inside the case.
The latch can be released by one of the following methods depending on the version of the case you have received
If your lock features a square hold-back spindle follower towards the top of the gearbox, simply turn the spindle follower to release the latch.
If your lock has a hollow white plastic piece in the hold-back spindle hole then insert a screwdriver into the face of the lock and push down the white plastic piece to release the latch.
If your lock does not have a small hold-back spindle or a white plastic insert towards the top of the case, then insert any normal handle spindle through the lever follower, pull the lever down then lift it fully up. The latch will now be released.
Once fitted this will not happen unless the latch is manually pushed back into the lock case, and the handle will pull the latch back through its normal cycle and release it again.

Westward Multipoint Gearbox – Lift Lever or Split Spindle
Quick ViewDoor Locks, Multipoint & UPVC, Multipoint GearboxesWestward Multipoint Gearbox – Lift Lever or Split Spindle
Clear35mm45mmThese replacement gearboxes for Westward locks are often found on the active door of a set of French doors. You may see them referred to as Hurricane locks.
Westward multipoint door lock gearboxes are very distinctive, with a square design and no corner cut-outs. The overall length of the gearbox is 221mm and the width is the backset plus 18mm.
Available in 35mm, or 45mm backsets.
Westward multipoint door lock gearboxes feature a 24mm high latch (with 2 distinctive screws in the latch), a 30mm high deadbolt, and 61mm between them. Gearboxes are held on to the faceplate with 4 screws, which is unusual for a multipoint door lock. The first screw hole to the second measures 37mm, the second to the third measures 85mm, and the third to the fourth screw measures 43mm.
When measuring the backset, allow 2-3mm for the faceplate, so a 35mm backset gearbox will measure 32mm when not fixed to the strip.
Operation: Lift lever or split spindle
Latch reversal: Undo the screws in the latch to remove. Reverse and reinsert then replace screws.
Nightlatch split spindle reversal: Remove latch to reveal a small screw. Use a small bladed screwdriver to turn the screw 180 degrees then return the latch to the correct position.
To lock the door
1. On closing the door, the latch is automatically engaged.
2. Lift the handle up to engage the additional locking points.
3. Throw the deadbolt and lock the system by turning the key (on some brands, the deadbolt will be thrown by lifting the handle).

Winkhaus 2 Thunderbolt Refurb Kit – Split Spindle Version
Quick ViewDoor Locks, Multipoint & UPVC, Refurb KitWinkhaus 2 Thunderbolt Refurb Kit – Split Spindle Version
Clear35mm45mmThis Winkhaus kit contains all of the necessary components to refurbish any Winkhaus Thunderbolt Multipoint Door Lock with the following characteristics: A latch and deadbolt centre case (split spindle version), and 2 thunderbolt cases
These kits offer a convenient way to repair and recommission failed multipoint door lock mechanisms, in a package no larger than a pizza box!
The vast majority of multipoint locks require replacement due to a failure of one or more of the locking points, the spindle follower, or internal parts within the main gearbox. In most cases the faceplate and drive rods themselves are undamaged and able to be re-used. Our Refurb Kits include all the bolt on components of the multipoint lock system, allowing a complete replacement of all these critical parts and a total overhaul of the lock.
One major benefit of this approach is that the kit comes in a package so small that it becomes viable to hold stock of everything required to refurbish all popular locks from manufacturers found in the UK. By eliminating the need to identify and order a full length like for like replacement, the Refurb Kit system enables a lock to be removed, repaired, and recommissioned, quickly and all in a single visit without ever having to identify the exact model number, wait for a delivery or handle a parcel over 2 metres long. Simply select the refurb kit that suits the gearbox and locking point options from your van stock, fit the components to the old locks faceplate, and reinstate the lock safe in the knowledge all moving and locking components are brand new.

35mm45mm55mmClearLeft HandRight HandThese Winkhaus gearboxes are supplied in 35mm, 45mm and 55mm backsets and 92mm centres. The gearboxes are held onto the strip by 2 rivets and a screw. Spare rivets can be ordered under part number 2241553.
All Winkhaus gearboxes, apart from the AV4 measure 185mm high x backset + 15mm, making them the smallest gearboxes on the market. They measure 64mm between the latch and deadbolt and 63mm from the spindle to the top of the gearbox. They also feature a groove above the spindle to aid in the fitment of handles with a screw above the lever.
Winkhaus AV2 multipoint lock gearboxes feature an alloy sprung latch and nickel-plated steel deadbolt. Most AV2 locks also feature an independent central deadbolt, but a latch-only version of the lock is also available.
AV2 gearboxes are distinctive as they are handed. Certain models have a latch reversal screw which, in theory, makes it possible to reverse the latch on an AV2 gearbox. However, the hooks on the lock cannot be reversed and many AV2 gearboxes will have the latch reversal screw blanked off, so you should choose the appropriate handed gearbox when replacing a broken lock.
Winkhaus gearboxes are attached to the faceplate with a set of rivets. These can be easily removed and replaced for gearbox swaps but makes Winkhaus relatively unique (and therefore easier to identify) in the market. Please refer to our guide and video on how to replace a Winkhaus gearbox for full details.
Please note that you may have encountered a really old Winkhaus gearbox that is attached to the faceplate with screws, with a passivated yellow finish. The sticker on the side (red = key wind and blue = lift lever) will denote the operation of the lock. These locks were handed and are no longer available.
Upon closing the door the snib below the hooks engages with the strike plate throwing the hook bolts.
The hook bolts are now deadlocked.
To further secure the door a turn of the key will throw the central deadbolt.
To unlock turn the key to withdraw the deadlock then either turn the key again to withdraw the latch and hook bolts or pull the handle down to withdraw the latch and hook bolts.

The AV2 autolock multipoint lock was introduced by Winkhaus in 2008 and it was designed to offer convenience to users and to maintain security standards. The result is a lock that operates as soon as the door is closed, without the need to lift the handle to engage the hooks.
The quickest way to identify the product, before removing it from the door, is to check the faceplate. You’ll spot a Winkhaus logo and, often, a Secured by Design logo. The AV2 version of the Winkhaus is identified by checking the operation of the lock.
Usefully, all Winkhaus locks feature the same routing details. Therefore, if you wish to change the locking operation, or upgrade to automatic locking, its a straightforward process. New keeps and handles may be required.
Winkhaus AV2 autolock multipoints are often specified on fire doors which require multipoint locking. Fire Door tests require doors to be tested in the latch position only, without the locking points being engaged. This is to simulate how a door may be commonly closed, however, it can create problem with achieving a satisfactory fire test result as the door leaf can bow and twist in the heat. The problem is eliminated with AV2 as the lock engages automatically in three positions helping to hold the door leaf in place against the intumescent seals and thereby achieving a fire door rating. Please note that the fitment of an AV2 lock does not mean that the door meets fire door standards and you should take specific advice.
Av2 autolocks are commonly fitted with a motor to allow for motorised locking and unlocking of doors. The locked door can be opened from the inside as usual with the door handle, or from both inside and outside using potential hands free opening products such as fingerprint, audio/visual intercom systems or even face recognition.

Please note that these hook boxes are handed as they sit slightly offset, ensuring greater compression against the frame.
Winkhaus Autolock AV2 hooks also have the added benefit of being thrown when the door is closed, ensuring that the door is held in place across its entire length. This helps prevent doors from becoming warped or bowed.

Quick ViewDoor Locks, Multipoint, Multipoint & UPVCWinkhaus Cobra 55/92 Latch Deadbolt 2 Hooks Lift Lever Multipoint Door Lock – with Entryguard Lockout Facility
55mmFlat 16mm - Square EndsFlat 20mm - Round EndsClearSplit SpindleThis Winkhaus Cobra multipoint door lock features 2 Hooks, 1 Deadbolt & 1 Latch with Entryguard Facility.
The Winkhaus Cobra is the original Winkhaus multipoint lock, featuring a central latch and deadbolt and2 or more “Cobra” hook locking points. Cobra multipoint locks are available with lift lever operation, split spindle or key wind.
Winkhaus Cobra locks are characterised by their central latch and deadbolt. They will also feature either 2 or 4 hooks as the additional locking points. While available as a 4 roller lock, Winkhaus Cobra locks are not normally available as a hook and roller combination lock. That function is left to the Scorpion range.
Cobra locks often feature locking distances of 1490mm between the external hooks. This distance has become very popular in the market, with numerous manufacturers adopting this configuration.
It is also worth noting that Winkhaus Trulocks feature the same gearbox as a Cobra, but with slightly different hooks. Cobra locks are non handed, whereas Trulocks are handed.
The quickest way to identify the product, before removing it from the door, is to check the faceplate. You’ll spot a Winkhaus logo and, often, a Secured by Design logo. The Cobra version will be identified by the central deadbolt and non handed hooks.
Winkhaus Cobra locks are unique as they are available with various different locking features. These include an Entryguard function which is a guard bar that operates in a similar way to a door chain. Its more secure and it can be released from the outside by the key holder if they turn the key an additional 45 degrees.
Another option is a lockout cylinder with double function that incorporates two locking cylinders. A central double or thumb turn cylinder plus an additional half cylinder in the FA housing on the external side of the door. When the dwelling is unoccupied both cylinders can be locked with the same key (talk to us about our keying alike service) thus double deadlocking the door. This prevents any intruder who may have entered the property elsewhere, exiting the property by operating the internal thumb turn and unlocking the door (deadlocking the half cylinder on the outside overrides the internal lock operation).
Usefully, all Winkhaus locks feature the same routing details. Therefore, if you wish to change the locking operation, or upgrade to automatic locking, its a straightforward process. New keeps and handles may be required.
Winkhaus Cobra locks always feature a latch and deadbolt in the gearbox. They are available in lift lever, split spindle and key wind operation. These are easily identifiable by the sticker on the side of the gearbox. If the writing is blue, This is lift lever, if its green, then the lock is split spindle, whereas red means key wind. We often will only stock the green, split spindle locks, where both a lift lever and split spindle version are available. This is because the split spindle can be used as a lever operated lock by inserting a solid spindle all the way through the follower. There’s also no price difference between the locks, so the added versatility of the split spindle lock makes it a suitable replacement for a larger range of locks.
Winkhaus Cobra locks feature 25mm throw solid steel Cobra hooks. These high security solid forged steel and nickel plated hooks that fully engage the keep rail and help prevent forcing the sash and frame apart.
Cobra hooks throw downwards, as opposed to Scorpion locks which can throw downwards or bi directional. Cobra hook cases measure 113mm high by 45mm wide.
