To determine handing:
- Position the gearbox laying as photographed above, with the arms extended, the spindle drive at the top, and the sliding bracket on the right-hand side
- You will notice the sliding bracket has either a “u” shaped profile or it has a flat side, and a side with a raised lobe.
- If the “U” shape or raised lobe is pointing up at you, then you need a left handed gearbox
- If the “U” shape or raised lobe is pointing down away from you, you need a right handed gearbox

The Saracen 4 gearbox attaches to extension pieces via serrated connections, also known as crocodile teeth fixings.
This 20mm backset variant has the code 05060 on the shoot bolt extension sockets to distinguish it from its cranked counterpart.
These gearboxes are available with a 9.5mm deadbolt. The 11.5mm and 13.5mm deadbolt variations are discontinued.
They are sometimes stamped “AUBI”.
