Rebate kits to suit ZOO ZBS mortice sashlocks. Available in 13mm and polished brass or satin chrome finish.
A rebate kit is an accessory that is used in conjunction with a mortice lock or latch. It allows the mortice lock to be used on a pair of rebated, double doors or French doors.
Rebate kits are required on pairs of double doors which are rebated. This will mean that the main door (sometimes called the passage door or master door) which is normally used and a passive door (sometimes called a slave door) which is often bolted in place.
A rebate on a pair of doors is where the leading edge is channelled out or set back to create an L-shaped lip. The two doors will meet at on the rebated faces.
Historically, rebate kits were available in 13mm, 19mm and 25mm. These roughly translate to 1/2″, 3/4″ or 1″ and may vary based on the size of the door. These days, rebate kits are often only available in 13mm. If you require a 19mm or 25mm rebate kit but you can’t see it on our site, please contact us and we’ll help find a solution.
The use of a rebate kit will invalidate the British Standard BS3621 as the standard method of installation on which it is tested is not being used. It is therefore important that the end-user informs their insurance company that a BS3621 lock has been fitted with a rebate to allow the correct method of installation so it is noted on their policy.
To determine the size of the rebate you require, simply measure the depth of the overlap between the two doors.
